Marba Studio
Marba Studio was founded in Stockholm in 2023 by Martina. Here, Martina talks about the background to Marba Studio – from the first idea to the creation of the brand.
How was the idea for Marba Studio born?
The idea for Marba Studio was born when I was on maternity leave with my first son. As a new parent, I was eager to buy clothes for our new family member. I started looking around for sweatshirts in different colors but was struck by how obvious the gender stereotypes were for boys and girls. Blue and pink were great – but where were all the other colors? My hope was that the range would increase as the sizes increased, but even when my second son arrived a couple of years later and both children were a little older, I still felt the same way. I was looking for sweatshirts in good quality and fit in different colors, without big brands and prints on the chest, but I never found what I was looking for. That's when I decided to take matters into my own hands and started Marba Studio.
Is there a story behind the name Marba?
When I decided to start my own children's clothing brand, it felt like the only thing I had to start with was myself, i.e. my gut feeling, my previous experience and my creativity. There was therefore no word or name that reflected what I saw before me and wanted to create, and therefore I chose to name the brand a combination of my own names – Martina Anna Bhavna Andbert.
What inspires you?
Traveling and discovering new places and people who dare to have their own style inspires me. I appreciate new and unexpected color combinations in both clothes and interior design. As a mother, I also get incredibly inspired and happy by seeing my two sons playing and being happy together.
What do you want people to experience as customers at Marba Studio?
From a customer perspective, there are two aspects I have in mind, the parent's and the child's. Although in most cases it is probably the parent who orders the garment, the end customer is still both the parent and the child who actually wears the garment.
From the perspective of a parent ordering, I hope it will feel fun to buy clothes from a Swedish brand that focuses on sustainability and quality. I hope you will experience that Marba Studio has quality in mind by making it possible for each Marba garment to be used by more than one child.
From the children's perspective, I hope it will feel exciting, playful and a bit like opening a present when you receive a product from Marba Studio. I hope and wish that everyone will be able to find their personal Marba color that feels inspiring to wear.
What distinguishes Marba Studio from other brands?
Marba Studio is a Swedish-designed children's clothing brand that focuses on quality, comfort and timeless clothing with a large selection of colors for boys and girls. Marba Studio's clothing should inspire all children to wear something they feel comfortable in - at the party as well as on the football field.
Marba Studio's motto is "Embrace Your Playfulness", which I hope can provide a little reminder to both adults and children to embrace their playfulness and creativity a little more in everyday life.
